Andy Bentz has been pastor at Calvary Free Methodist Church since June 2013. After living the first ten years of his life in Pennsylvania, Andy’s dad moved the entire family to Mason, Michigan to make a transition from life as an engineer to life as a pastor. Andy first felt a call to ministry at the age of 12, but did not accept God’s call until he was a sophomore in high school. Andy recalls, “I knew at that moment that God was calling me to full-time pastoral ministry.”
Andy began to date an amazing young woman who attended the church where his father was pastor. On June 2, 2007 he married his beautiful wife, Ashley. She had just graduated from Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan, and he had just completed his freshmen year there. At Spring Arbor University Andy studied pastoral ministry, graduating in May 2010. In July 2010, Andy and Ashley moved to Nicholasville, Kentucky so Andy could attend Asbury Theological Seminary. In May 2013, Andy received a M.Div. from Asbury Seminary.
Andy enjoy sports (both watching and participating; particularly baseball, football, and golf), disc golf, being in nature, fishing, fly fishing, hiking, reading for fun (now that seminary is over), spending time with Ashley, and playing with their dog, Bo.
Ashley and Andy are thrilled to be at CFMC. Andy shares, “We are excited about what God is already doing and will do in our church and in our community.”
